Little Miss Apple Pie

June 6 is a Korean national holiday which means no work-day for us teachers, it also means we have a long weekend ahead and we kicked it off with a blast.

My office mates and I had been planning this one for nearly a month and it was a success. What's great was that it was payday last Thursday. LOL. With me were Brish, Arlien, Liz, Mark, Jaycel and, most unexpectedly, Kevin. We asked Kevin to come with us last Thursday night when he came by the office to pick up his paycheck. We were not really expecting that he'd come with us but he did and we couldn't be more happier.

We meet up with Kevin a couple of blocks away from our office building, then we did a quick stop at a local resto-bar to get ourselves something to eat and while waiting for our take out meals, Kevin, Mark, Liz and I decided to go to the nearest convenience store to buy snacks and liquor to cut us some extra time. Shortly after, we returned to the resto-bar; we waited for our order for a little while then we went to my house.

They all had dinner first, or midnight snacks, I suppose before we started drinking. It was a really fun night; I got so drunk--dunno why I easily get drunk lately, but I did and well--I sort of "forced" Kevin to listen to me. LOL We stayed up all night until most of the gang went upstairs to bed at around 6am. It was only Liz, Arlien and I who were awake until about 7am.

We chatted for some time then decided to clean up and unfortunately, I broke a liquor bottle and injured a toe. It bled a lot and we were having a hard time stopping it from bleeding, but Liz and I were able to really get to know each other more that time.

When the bleeding finally halted, the three of us went to sleep and at around 9 something I heard voices and realized that Jaycel and Kevin were already awake and eating breakfast with my parents. I decided to get up from bed too, and joined them in the breakfast table. I wasn't really hungry but felt the need to assist and eat with my guests. LOL

Soon after, every one was awake and were eating breakfast. We all chatted about random things as they ate; later that morning we all decided to just squeeze in the spare room downstairs to hang out. It was really fun, we were telling each other random tales from work and our lives; it was great getting to know my workmates better and beyond the workplace too.

It went on for hours as we all take turns to use the bathroom to take a shower. I honestly cannot simply express in words how happy I felt that day, it's unlike anything I've ever felt before and more. It was truly a pleasure to work (and to have worked with, in Kevin's case *insert sad face here*) with them.

From L - R : Mark, Liz, me, Arlien, Brish, Kevin and Jaycel

Of course we took a last group shot before they left. I really wish we'd do it again as it's the best all nighters party I ever been in. I love my workmates! ^_^

It's really not that new anymore.

I've been sporting my red hair for nearly two weeks now and though it's red, it's not exactly the shade of red that I wanted. I'm planning to apply a brighter shade after a month to get that popping red that I've always been dreaming of. Nonetheless, I still love my new hair.

The post title might not make any sense to anyone, trust me, I don't think it makes sense too, but to some people it does--and it's the parents of the little boy, who was unfortunately named as such.

Ladies and gents, meet my one week old godson... And yes, he is called Hair Her, but whatever has gotten into the heads of my friends (AKA his inconsiderate parents) I do not know exactly. Perhaps, they just find the name really cute and unique (as it already is) but I still think that it's not right to name an angel such a name.

I officially met Hair (rolls eyes) last Saturday when I went to see his dad after quite a long time. It has been quite a while since we last saw each other, so when he asked where I was and asked me to come over I agreed immediately. We bought rum and Pepsi, even bought him a pack of smoke-- I just missed my friend terribly. LOL While we were walking that night, he told me he needed to confess something so I just let him speak. I listened intently and though I was not surprised with some of his confession, I was really surprised to find out that he have a newborn son.

I was ecstatic, really excited--man, I just couldn't express how happy I felt when he told me about it and when we got to his place, I cannot explain in words the joy I felt especially when I first held Hair in my arms. The name kills it though, I was protesting that they change it, was even blabbering about how terrible they are as parents for naming the little cutie pie as such, but I was relieved when they finally admitted that Hair Her was just a nickname (sighs in relief).

Turns out, our new little ninja's real name is Yohan Leonidas. Killer name, I know--he's a ninja spartan--or spartan ninja? Whatevz, all I know is that I have fallen in love with little Hair the moment I saw and held him especially when he smiled at me for the very first time (see photo above).

Things might have not turned out the best for me in the past couple of months, but to be honest, Hair made me forget about all the heartache. I don't know how, but it's as if he gave me a new chance, he gave me hope for a better tomorrow.

I'm not saying I have totally forgotten about Mike, little Valerie and all... there's just something about Hair that tells me that everything will be alright and that to forget about the pain and forgive myself is what I should do... basically, he made me want to start life over in a clean slate.

Je t'aime mon petite garcon... la marraine vous aime. ❤ ❤ ❤

Quite a late post…

Thanks again, Ge!

This was sometime in the middle of the week. First of all, I am terribly sorry for the weird phone call, but I appreciate that you monitored me the night before and perhaps you just really wanted to know what happened on my way home from work.

It was terrifying. I thought I'd had to physically fight for my life... I was so scared, but tried to keep my cool when he followed me home and it feels good to have someone monitoring me during those times.

So that morning, I waited for you, saved you a seat in the queue for the local transit.

Glad to see you though, barely could wait to tell you exactly what happened the night before. You even brought a pack of my all time favorite cookies and we ate that on our trip as we talked about what happened and other random things, you even paid for my fare. Man, I owe you a lot now eh? Anyway, thanks for the company, joh eun chin gu. ^_^ yet again, kamsahamnida! ^_^

This weekend would have not been the same if you didn't ask where I was yesterday. I was surprised when you asked me to meet you at McDonald's but I was also glad you did because I am getting a little bored drinking brandy with my parents and Mike's parents and singing karaoke with my sisters and his sister. We've been doing it practically every week and though I look forward to seeing them, somehow, I feel like going out too and trying to find the company of my old friends.

Luckily, there was you.

You were one of the first few people whom I befriended (or rather befriended me) when I was a freshman in college. You have always been a great company and though things never worked out between us once upon a time, I'm glad that we remained friends.

We had float, fries and burger at McDonald's and we had a great laugh about the most random things we talked about to update each other about what's been going on in our lives. Then we bought soju and moved the conversation to your place where you handed me a bottle of Vodka Mudshake and we listened to The Eraserheads.

The night went on; we shared stories and laughed at the silly things I used to do before. Talked about previous breakups and even gained some memorable killer phrases. Reminiscing was rather fun and uncomplicated when talked about with you, I feel at ease and I enjoy listening to your own stories and dilemmas too.

You know when people always say that you meet someone for a reason and things happen for a reason I never seem to believe them, until last night. We may never have worked out as a couple but we still clicked as good friends, and I couldn't be more grateful for that.

Time really do heal all wounds.

It was great to finally bond with you this way, Geoffe. Until next time, awesome friend.

It's the wee hours of the last day of April. Yet here I am, wide awake and unsure about how I should feel after what occurred just an hour ago... I am about to write how I got home and received a very unexpected message from you.

Getting a message from you these past few weeks is really a surprise, but what's different about the message you sent earlier is that you initiated a conversation. I just got in the house when my phone blinked, signaling a voice message from WhatsApp and it was from you. I didn't want to play it at first, afraid of what I was about to hear, but I did anyway and you had me smiling at the very first line--you had me at "Hello, Goodbye" by The Beatles. I honestly didn't know what to say but I saw you were typing a message and so I let you finish. You asked if I was working and I sort of didn't get what you want to know at first. So I asked if you mean "right now?" turns out you were asking if I'm working elsewhere and I said yes. I wish I could see your face at that moment... how you used to hate the idea of me working two hours away from home, I could just imagine your forehead wrinkling and your eyes narrowing as you think of something to say. But of course, I didn't know for sure now... that was before, when you had me...when I had you.

Working away from home is a choice I had to make to escape your ghost.

Had you not left me, well--I might have fought for my right to work anyway, and perhaps you'd understand because my family needed the extra financial support I could give from working in a big company. But you left me, so you didn't have a say anymore but it was evident enough from our conversation that you were still somehow against me working far from home. You said you're worried about me doing the long commute to and from work and you kept on telling me to always take care. I appreciate it, but somehow the thought of that "care" coming from a left-over feeling of a past relationship makes my heart melt and break at the same time. It's ironic to say so, I know. It's just comforting to know that you still care but it's also heartbreaking because if you still care about me that much, why cut ties?

You told me of your day's activity like you would normally do, except for the lack of "I love you" and sweet nothings... you even asked me if I lost weight too it was a bit funny especially when you asked me to send you a recent photo. So I did, and you sent one back too... which really surprised me because I was expecting your hollow eyes yet you sent me a photo that was like what you would normally send me before... You were doing a kissing pose and pointed out that you didn't mean it... I know you were kidding of course, though you just confused me even more because I don't know whether to hold on stronger or think that you're a jerk, and though I'd like to think of the latter, I could not. Because everyone knows and I know that you're not--you're just confused and terrified and somehow, I wish I could have done something to make you stay but I chose to let you go in hopes that you'd find comfort and happiness in solitude. People are telling me otherwise though, especially your mother who points out that you're just making things more complicated for you. She's right though but of course, I told her that she must understand too...

By the end of the night you told me you had to sleep, and that I should too... but before you completely went to bed you mentioned you miss me. I didn't want to say those words too, I don't know why I don't understand myself either. The sincerity is still there too, or at least that's what I'd like to believe. To be honest, I've never been stuck this way before it's like I've become immobile in the love department. By now I should be dating, not giving any care about you anymore but I still do. A huge part of me is still with you and I'm pretty sure that you're not giving it back anytime soon either--but for how long will we stay this way? Somehow, I need an answer but at the back of my mind, I know that to wait is always the answer I have been meaning to hear all along. I wish I could have just married you but it's too late for that now, eh? Though I hope you'd always keep in mind that if you come back and decided to pick up from where we last stopped, I'm in. I'll always be waiting for you hon... no matter how martyr and stupid it may seem to some. I will. That's just how much I love you and I will always love you this way...

Is it goodbye for my domain name NowhereGirl.net already? To be honest, I am not sure. But I would really still love to have it renewed. I transferred back here in blogger because it has recently expired and I do not have the financial resources yet to renew it. For a person with a stable online teaching job, I am pretty broke and I think I need help LOL --- but seriously.

Well anyway, I am currently waiting for 8:30pm as I will be having yet another class. I honestly enjoy teaching Japanese students online, I have just found the perfect teaching job for me. It's actually a dream come true, since I have always wanted a home based job so I could still look after my younger siblings and get some alone time to work out and read. It is pretty convenient too, not only for me but also for my family especially with my mother who always needs me around to look after the household and the business, I am hoping and fervently praying that I don't get tired of doing this.

Anyway, I'll be ending it here for now, I'll make a new theme for this site and this time an original. I miss coding, it's been a while so wish me luck. :)

Love is sharing a whole medium sized pizza. :)) Meet my baby brother, Patrick. He is the face you often see in my Facebook page and in my Instagram account (if you follow me, of course). He is four, and will be turning 5 on May. He is my little sunshoine. The reason why someday I wanted to have, love and care for children of my own. And this little guy is a pizza monster! Was able to eat three slices by himself! :))

NOTA BENE: This was written in 2011, I think. Or maybe late 2012.

I find writing as amusing as talking.

I personally think that writing is the best way to express myself. Although, I’m not really good with words, still words find their way to catch my attention, inspiring me to write whatever it is that I want. I also think that writing is neither a skill learned nor acquired, I think it’s a gift. A gift which I have to treasure, because honestly, it’s the only tool I have aside from my prayers. Now, I’m not going to rant about religion through writing, but the reason why I write. Because, recently I thought that I lost “contact” with myself by not being able to finish a poem, and a song. I have also realized how poorly I write now than I do before. It is as if I lost interest in writing, and I find it as a really tragic moment in my life, for the reason that I am always equipped with thoughts, no matter how random they are, I could always write them all down. But it seems that I could no longer do that. Perhaps my mind has become too preoccupied with a lot of things that I could no longer find the time to sit down, breathe in and start writing again.

Writing, as I said is a gift, a gift which I have to treasure because its one of my power tools, apart from my prayers. But writing has drifted away from me, and I am not sure if it has left me for good or if it is only because of all the things that have been happening in my life right now that hinders me to stop. Although, I was never good with words, I know that I have the capability to express myself as simple as possible. I love brevity in my writings; I go straight to my point. But despite of that fact, I know that I could at least, at some point, play with words to make songs and poems… but I lost that. I just find it really saddening; I never thought I would get in a point in my life where I would totally lose it.

I wanted to improve, but I guess my “excessive” learning has slowed me from exploring more of what I can do. I tried to force myself to learn how to be a polished writer, but realized that it needs enough experience to be able to be one. I could not gain it in one gulp. Things really do take time to refine. Perhaps I was overexposed at the wrong time; I was given a windfall when it was not supposed to be given to me yet. The sad thing is I was overwhelmed, that I became ambitious, given the opportunity, that I forgot that I still have a long way to go. That I am not YET ready. I already took pride on something I was not yet able to do.

Now here I am, feeling sorry for what I have lost along the way. But I don’t regret being there, in fact, I am thankful I took that path because at least now I know what I am really capable of doing. At least now I know where I stand, and how good it is to be where I am now than to be where I am before, because what I was then caused me so much pain and loss. I lost a couple of friends along with one of my only life investments, which is my will to write and I am trying to gain, if not all, at least just my power tool back. Even if it means that I have to start all over again from scratch, I would gladly do it just to refresh myself of the basics, but now with more improvements, but more humble I would be.

I want to be able to write again. I want to be able to finish songs that do not only revolve in one theme; I want to explore my ability even more, I want to apply what I have learned, I want to improve. I want to be flexible in terms of writing; I want to sharpen my knowledge about certain things so that I will be able to write about them, with more sense. I just want to show my strong personality in my writing, I no longer want to write about things that people tell me to write for them. I am soo tired of people limiting my word count, and changing the topic or voice of my piece just because some people do not want to read about it. Heck, I want to be carefree.

I want to burst like a freshly cut lemon, and smell the spanking new scent of being the same old me with a whole new twist. I just want to write again.

DID YOU KNOW that most of the successful businessmen in the world do not technically have a high IQ? Instead, they possess a high level of EMOTIONAL QUOTIENT in which they use to, not only keep their business together, but also their employees happy, encouraged and successful as they are.

Think about it, a good and honest tap on someone's shoulder could make them a better person, and what better way to enjoy their triumph is to be happy for them and not jealous of what they have achieved.

With that, let me share to you what I learned this morning.

I have learned that people compliment you for two things, and it's just either they're secured enough to encourage you, or they're simply jealous of what you have and who you are. Another thing is, being frank would not make you a better person, unless you do it the right way, and the right way is to be objective enough to not hurt a person's feelings.

You can never say that you're objective if your heart and mind are filled with nothing but jealousy towards the person. You will just be simply judging, if not ironically complimenting his or her flaws.

So now, I think a hundred times whenever a person encourages or compliments me. And I think you should do the same.

Ask yourself:

Do they do it simply because they're truthfully happy for me, and wanted me to improve what I already have and/or who I already am?

Or is it the other way around? Which is to just gain something from me in return, and/or take advantage of what I can do, only to pass it on as something they did themselves to make them feel secured.

Let us turn the table around. Ask yourself: Why do I really compliment other people?

Food for thought.

For years, people within an institution have been doing the same routine. People whose term has ended were replaced by those who have worked for years; some people retain a position while others gain a new one. It has been the case for so long that it has become a tradition.

Traditions are meant to be good, that is why it has been called so and has been followed by succeeding generations and apparently, it has been giving great hope to those who follow it.

Hope in the sense that it gives people a chance to gain a position in an institution, may it be a major one or simply within an organization. But traditions are sometimes butchered by great innovations. Notice that the term butchered was used to describe how innovation enters the scenario. Why butchered? Why not?

Was not that what people always say whenever someone proposes something new? Is it not that when people finally implement an innovation, it starts a commotion? Majority will surely agree that traditions will be butchered if innovations are done. But it does not always have to be the case. For people must first learn how to weigh decisions to be able for them to come up with a wise and right one. People, especially those who are in the position, do not just jump into conclusions; they always have to undergo a long, mind-bothering and unanticipated process before they come up with something sensible and prudent. This is how innovations are being considered.

People would react negatively when someone implements something new, especially if it would bypass their rights or would diminish their power, if they have one. Those who have the capacity would protest and pull down whoever is the implementer of an innovation just because they could not adapt to certain changes. Talk about Crab Mentality; is it not such a hideous act?

Some would even talk about prudence, even though it is clear enough for everyone to see that the person is not even a bit prudent himself. Some prudent people, as what they call themselves to be, are sometimes very good in saying wise words and backstabbing hardworking people and telling lies about them such as they are not working hard enough or they are not doing their job. But often times these prudent people are the ones who do not do anything at all.

It is in fact a saddening truth that where critical thinkers and intelligent people are so dominant, there are still a great number of people who ensnare themselves inside the box of ignorance.

Remember this, no matter how intelligent a person is, if it cannot adapt to even minor changes, it would remain feeble- minded. There is nothing wrong about being traditional, but people would have to think and live outside the box for their own good. There will always be a room for improvement; we just have to push some things aside to make way for it.

Prudence - or self-control; careful about one’s conduct; circumspect.

Basically it means to avoid offending one’s fellowmen and not to boast of one’s exploits or intellectual prowess.

It is actually okay to talk about prudence and all those related things. But comparing yourself to another person is another thing, and to some people, it must not be done. Especially if you are comparing yourself to someone ten times more hardworking than you are. Ika nga nila in Filipino, “Okay lang mag yabang kung may ipagyayabang naman.” Why talk about other person’s prudence if you yourself do not have it? Or perhaps, sometimes you lose it? There really is no point in ranting about other people’s business and pulling them down through it. Does “CRAB MENTALITY” ring a bell?

Anyway, what I am only trying to say is that, we all do not have the right to judge other people and blatantly give a lecture in prudence if we, ourselves, lack it. It only proves how shallow, immature, judgmental and disrespectful you truly are.

Do a self-assessment first before jumping into conclusions. Life is full of motherfuckers, DO NOT add up to their growing population.
